There’s nothing we enjoy more than taking some of our most vibrant and exciting products and creating fantastic new lifestyle imagery for the Sue Ryder Online shop. We regularly plan photographic shoots throughout the year, especially when we need to promote our exclusive furniture collections.
On 8th March 2017, the Online shop team, armed with various props, with cars stuffed full of chairs, tables and various other bits and pieces, including the odd drill to assemble our furniture, headed off to our location at Thorpe Hall, in Peterborough.
Thorpe Hall at Longthorpe in the city of Peterborough, is a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, built by Peter Mills between 1653 and 1656, for the Lord Chief Justice, Oliver St John. After a period as a hospital, the hall is currently used as a hospice for Sue Ryder.
With its grand façade, lofty interior spaces complete with huge windows, high ceilings, and neutral backdrops, we decided that this was the perfect location for our latest photographic shoot.
Luckily the weather was on our side and apart from a few drops of rain, we managed to assemble the furniture using our trusty hand-held drills but also shoot most of our new garden furniture and statues outside in the impressive landscaped gardens.
The whole process is important to us – Planning – Shooting – Editing – all of these steps are essential when it comes to successful product photography.
A great working relationship with a professional photographer is an absolute “must” especially if the objective is to achieve beautiful aspirational photographs. We were, therefore, incredibly lucky to have acquired the expertise of Northamptonshire Lifestyle and Wedding photographer Georgi Mabee who joined the team for the day. Her years of experience really helped us focus on what we wanted to achieve for every shot and because of this detailed planning, we managed to get through all seventy shots within the day.
After several hours of unpacking boxes, shifting key pieces of furniture into the perfect position and then enhancing the shot with the right props we managed to complete the entire shoot by 4.00 pm!
