  • Sue Ryder Online Shop Spring Collection Photographic Shoot

There’s nothing we enjoy more than taking some of our most vibrant and exciting products and creating fantastic new lifestyle imagery for the Sue Ryder Online shop. We regularly plan photographic shoots throughout the year, especially when we need to promote our exclusive furniture collections.

    Sue Ryder Occasional Chairs

On 8th March 2017, the Online shop team, armed with various props, with cars stuffed full of chairs, tables and various other bits and pieces, including the odd drill to assemble our furniture, headed off to our location at Thorpe Hall, in Peterborough.

    Thorpe Hall Peterborough

Thorpe Hall at Longthorpe in the city of Peterborough, is a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, built by Peter Mills between 1653 and 1656, for the Lord Chief Justice, Oliver St John. After a period as a hospital, the hall is currently used as a hospice for Sue Ryder.

With its grand façade, lofty interior spaces complete with huge windows, high ceilings, and neutral backdrops, we decided that this was the perfect location for our latest photographic shoot.

    Decorative Lanterns

Luckily the weather was on our side and apart from a few drops of rain, we managed to assemble the furniture using our trusty hand-held drills but also shoot most of our new garden furniture and statues outside in the impressive landscaped gardens.

    Brand new kids furniture

The whole process is important to us – Planning – Shooting – Editing – all of these steps are essential when it comes to successful product photography.

Garden Bistro Three Piece Bistro Set

A great working relationship with a professional photographer is an absolute “must” especially if the objective is to achieve beautiful aspirational photographs. We were, therefore, incredibly lucky to have acquired the expertise of Northamptonshire Lifestyle and Wedding photographer Georgi Mabee who joined the team for the day. Her years of experience really helped us focus on what we wanted to achieve for every shot and because of this detailed planning, we managed to get through all seventy shots within the day.

    Pretty Wicker Storage Bench

After several hours of unpacking boxes, shifting key pieces of furniture into the perfect position and then enhancing the shot with the right props we managed to complete the entire shoot by 4.00 pm!

  • Sue Ryder Shop On Location!

Nestled away in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside, The Old Coach House is situated in the grounds of the historic Bragborough Hall and has been lovingly restored into a luxurious holiday let - the perfect location for our latest product photo shoot.

The beautiful four bedroom Coach House features a sunny patio area with an eight seater table, perfect for families or a group of friends to enjoy a special break together.

We contacted the owners to see if they could accommodate us and when we told them about our fantastic cause they were more than happy to help, allowing us to use the accommodation to provide the perfect backdrop for our home and furniture ranges - even supplying refreshments throughout the day!

Amy Cooksey, E-commerce Manager at Sue Ryder says, "First impressions really count when selling online and ‘lifestyle’ images are an essential component when trying to stand out from the crowd and attract customers."

‘We have some fantastic country-style products and were looking for a character property to showcase them in. When we found The Old Coach House in Braunston, a stone’s throw from our online shop HQ, we couldn’t believe our luck! Having fantastic imagery makes it much easier for our customers to visualise our products in their own homes."

For weeks prior to the shoot we’d been preparing, ensuring samples were here and planning the types of shots we wanted to get on the day.

"There are many different content areas on the site that need updating on a regular basis and so we have to ensure we have multiple images in varying sizes and styles to ensure the site stays looking fresh and interesting."

When the day of the shoot came around the weather was changeable to say the least.

‘We prioritised indoor shots first making use of the four double bedrooms and spacious living/dining areas. By the afternoon we took to the great outdoors and the pretty gravelled garden with its lush green planting.’

All in all, once it was time to call it a wrap we’d all grown quite fond of our surroundings and wished we were staying for the week! We’re looking forward to heading back there soon to shoot our stunning Christmas ranges.

All of the products you see here are available via the online shop (and some of our retail shops too) and you can book your stay at The Old Coach House online here.
